HomeVault

Privacy Policy

Effective date 18 August 2026.

HomeVault does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no account system, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking. Everything below is detail on that one sentence.

Where your data lives

On your device, by default. Everything you enter — rooms, boxes, items, photos, tags and notes — is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. Nothing leaves the device unless you explicitly configure sync.

Your own server, optionally. HomeVault can sync with a HomeVault server that you host on your own hardware — a NAS at home, for example. If you enable this, data is transmitted only to the server address you enter, secured by an access token you provide. The developer has no access to that server or its contents; it is operated entirely by you.

Device permissions

Camera — only to photograph your items and to scan QR codes on your boxes. Photos are stored locally in the app.

Photo library — only when you choose to attach an existing photo to an item.

NFC — only to read and write the NFC tags you use to label your boxes.

None of these permissions are used to collect data for the developer or any third party.

Retention and deletion

All data is under your control. Deleting an item, box or room removes it from your device — and from your self-hosted server on the next sync, if configured. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.

Children

HomeVault does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. The app is rated 4+.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
